Best Apps for Tailors in 2026: 6 Options Compared
We compared 6 apps for tailors and alteration shops: TailorMate, Tailor's Assistant, StitchTrack, CleanCloud, WISMO and a paper order book. Prices checked.
8 min read
Short answer: choose the app by the shape of your shop. For a one-person tailor on an iPhone, Tailor’s Assistant is cheap and simple. For a boutique that stitches many dress types, TailorMate saves measurements per customer. For an alteration shop with a counter and staff, StitchTrack or CleanCloud works like a cash register with order tickets. If your customers often ask “is it ready yet?”, WISMO gives each order a link they can check. A paper order book is still fine for a small shop.
A tailoring order holds a lot of detail. There are measurements, fabric, the style, one or two fittings, an advance and a balance. The order is often open for weeks, and the customer usually needs it for a fixed date. With a few orders, a notebook can hold all of that. In wedding season or before the holidays, it often cannot.
Prices were checked on each app’s own website or app store page on 18 October 2026. Prices are in US dollars. They change, and they can differ by country, so please check the price for your market before you sign up.
We make WISMO, one of the apps on this list. We have tried to be fair, and we say where other apps do things WISMO does not.
What a tailor needs from an app
Measurements you can find again. A regular customer comes back in six months. You want last time’s numbers, with the unit and the date you took them.
Orders by due date. You need to see what is due this week, which fittings are coming, and what you have not started.
Stages that match your work. Measurements, cutting, stitching, a fitting, alterations, and ready for pickup. Each order is at one of these steps.
Advances and balances. Most tailors take an advance and collect the rest at pickup. In our order data, 40 of 435 priced orders with a payment were paid in more than one instalment.
Median 50%
A way to answer “is it ready?” Customers ask more when the outfit is for a wedding or an event.
No app here does all five equally well. That is the real choice.
1. TailorMate: measurements and orders for boutiques
TailorMate is an app for tailoring shops and boutiques, on Android and iPhone. On Google Play it had more than 100,000 downloads and a rating of 3.7 from 495 reviews. It stores several sets of measurements for each customer and reuses them on future orders. Each order can hold several dress items, each with cloth photos, pattern photos and a price.
You see orders as active, past due, upcoming or delivered. TailorMate can send the customer a notification when an order’s status changes, and it can send an invoice. It also covers materials stock, worker access and daily and monthly reports.
Best for: boutiques and tailoring shops that stitch many garment types and want each customer’s measurements on file.
Pricing: free to try. The App Store lists paid plans from $3.99 to $399.99, but it does not say how long each plan lasts. Check the price inside the app before you pay.
Limitations: the price is hard to compare before you install it. Its measurement options are built around garments such as blouses, salwar kameez, trousers and suits. Please check that your work fits.
2. Tailor’s Assistant: a simple iPhone app for a small shop
Tailor’s Assistant is an iPhone and iPad app for small tailor and alteration shops. You record measurements in inches or centimeters on each order. Each order moves through set stages: Not started, Stitching, Fitting, Ready and Picked up. A Today screen shows late work, upcoming work and orders ready for pickup. You record deposits and payments and see every balance due. When an order is ready, it helps you text or email the customer.
Best for: a one-person shop on an iPhone that wants measurements, stages and balances in one simple app.
Pricing: free for up to 15 customers and 20 new orders a month. Pro is $4.99 a month, $29.99 a year or $79.99 once. The yearly plan has a one-week free trial. Pro adds unlimited customers and orders, iCloud sync, fabric photos and PDF invoices with sales tax.
Limitations: it runs only on Apple devices, so it does not suit a tailor with an Android phone. It is new, with one rating on the App Store when we checked. Its stages are set for you, and we could not find a way to rename them.
3. StitchTrack: a counter system for alteration shops
StitchTrack is point-of-sale and ticket software for tailors and alteration shops. You create a repair ticket when the garment arrives, and you follow it from drop-off to pickup. You can log measurements at check-in and save them to the customer’s profile. Its point of sale handles deposits, split payments and refunds.
Best for: alteration and repair shops with a front counter and more than one person working.
Pricing: Starter is $49.99 a month for one user. Professional is $99.99 a month for up to five users. It adds automatic text and email alerts, stock alerts and staff commission tracking. Enterprise is priced by quote. The home page offers a 14-day free trial.
Limitations: it costs more than the phone apps here. Automatic text alerts start on the $99.99 plan. It is built for a shop counter, not for a tailor working alone from home.
4. CleanCloud: dry cleaning software that also serves alterations
CleanCloud is software for dry cleaners and laundries, and it has a version for alteration businesses. Its alterations page lists custom orders and fittings. It also has a point of sale on an iPad or a computer. It covers online ordering, pickup and delivery, and customer payments. Its plans include garment tag printing and customer notifications. Text messages are an optional extra with their own fees.
Best for: alteration shops that also clean garments, or that run pickup and delivery.
Pricing: in the US, Lite is $99 a month, or $89 a month billed yearly, for up to 500 orders a month. Pro is $129 a month, or $109 billed yearly. There is a 14-day free trial.
Limitations: it is the most expensive option here. It was built for dry cleaners first, and its alterations page does not mention measurement records.
5. WISMO: orders from chats, with a link for your customer
We make WISMO, so read this section with that in mind. WISMO is an order app for small sellers on iPhone and Android. It is not built only for tailors. You create an order with the customer, the garment, the price, the due date and the advance. Every order gets a link. Your customer opens it on any phone and sees the current step and a timeline. They do not need an app or an account.
You name the stages in your own words, such as Cutting, Stitching, First Fitting and Ready for Pickup. You can have up to 12 stages, free on every plan. The calendar shows every due date. At 8 a.m. in your time zone, WISMO tells you which orders are due tomorrow. You record the advance and each payment, so the balance stays on the order. You can make an invoice for any order.
Median 5
Best for: tailors who take orders in WhatsApp, Instagram or in person. It helps most when you answer “is my blouse ready?” many times a week.
Pricing: free for your first 30 orders. WISMO Pro is $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year, and you can try Pro free for 7 days. Pro adds unlimited orders, photo updates on the tracking page and no WISMO branding on your pages. It also emails your customer when the order moves to a new step.
Limitations: WISMO has no measurement fields. You write measurements in the order description or in private notes. To reuse them, you can duplicate a past order, which copies its description. WISMO does not book fittings, take payments or send text or WhatsApp messages. It also has no staff accounts.
6. A paper order book: free, and still common
Many tailors keep a numbered order book with a slip for the customer. Write the name, phone, garment, measurements, fitting dates, price, advance and due date on each page.
Best for: a small shop with a few orders open at a time.
Pricing: the cost of the book.
Limitations: you cannot search it, and it stays at the shop. There is no page for the customer, so every status question comes to you. If the book is lost, the measurements are lost too. Our free order tracker template is a step between a book and an app.
Apps for tailors compared
| Phones | Measurements | Customer gets updates | Takes payments | Starting price | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| TailorMate | Android, iPhone | Saved per customer | Status notifications | Not found | Free to try |
| Tailor's Assistant | iPhone, iPad | On each order | You text or email | Not found | Free, then $4.99 a month |
| StitchTrack | Shop computer | Saved per customer | Text and email on Professional | Yes | $49.99 a month |
| CleanCloud | iPad or computer | Not mentioned | Notifications, texts cost extra | Yes | $99 a month |
| WISMO | Android, iPhone | In the description | A link per order | No | First 30 orders free |
| Paper order book | None | Written by hand | No | No | Free |
Look at two columns. Measurements are where the tailor apps are strong, and WISMO is weakest. On the other side, only WISMO gives the customer a page to check at any time.
Why the customer’s link matters
Tailoring customers check often, because the outfit is for a date that cannot move. We looked at 262 orders on WISMO whose tracking link was opened at least once. They came from 96 sellers, March to October 2026. Customers opened it a median of 5 times before the order was finished. Of those orders, 62 were opened ten times or more.
Each time a customer opens the link is a message you did not have to answer. This matters most in a busy season. We looked at the 32 WISMO sellers with five or more orders. At their busiest, the median seller had 5 orders open at the same time. One seller reached 30.
The dataset is small: 731 orders from 155 sellers. It is published with its limits.
Which app should you pick?
If you work alone on an iPhone: Tailor’s Assistant. It is cheap, and the free plan covers 20 new orders a month.
If you run a boutique with many dress types: TailorMate. Saved measurements per customer save time on repeat orders.
If you run an alteration counter with staff: StitchTrack. Choose CleanCloud if you also clean garments or offer pickup and delivery.
If customers keep asking about their order: WISMO. Keep taking orders the way you do now, and send each customer a link.
If you are just starting: a paper order book or a spreadsheet. Do not pay for software at a few orders a week.
If you have two of these problems: pair two tools. Some tailors keep measurements in a measurement app and track orders and payments in WISMO.
The honest summary
These apps answer different questions. TailorMate and Tailor’s Assistant answer what were this customer’s measurements? StitchTrack and CleanCloud answer how do we run the counter? WISMO answers does my customer know where the order is? A paper order book answers where did I write that down?
Choose the question you ask most often this month. Then pick the app that answers it.

Common questions
What is the best app for tailors?
It depends on the size of your shop. A one-person tailor who wants measurements and orders on an iPhone can start with Tailor's Assistant. A boutique with many dress types can look at TailorMate. An alteration shop with a counter and staff fits StitchTrack or CleanCloud. If your customers keep asking whether their garment is ready, WISMO gives each order a link they can check.
Is there a free app for tailors?
Some apps have a free start. On 18 October 2026, Tailor's Assistant was free for up to 15 customers and 20 new orders a month. TailorMate was free to try. WISMO's first 30 orders are free. StitchTrack and CleanCloud start with a 14-day free trial and then charge a monthly price.
Which tailor apps save customer measurements?
TailorMate saves several sets of measurements for each customer and reuses them on new orders. Tailor's Assistant records measurements in inches or centimeters on each order. StitchTrack saves measurements to the customer's profile. WISMO has no measurement fields, so you write measurements in the order description or in private notes.
Which tailor apps tell the customer the garment is ready?
StitchTrack sends automatic text and email alerts on its Professional plan. CleanCloud sends customer notifications, and text messages cost extra. TailorMate can notify customers when an order's status changes. Tailor's Assistant helps you text or email the customer yourself. WISMO gives every order a link where the customer checks the current step at any time.
Do I need an app, or is a paper order book enough?
A paper order book is enough when you have a few orders open and you rarely lose a slip. Think about an app when you hold more orders than you can remember. It also helps when you take advances or answer the same status question many times a week.
